BACK FROM THE BRINK

Ten years on from the very first Carlisle Blues Festival, 2017 will see the much requested and much anticipated resurrection of the popular Carlisle event.

For those who don’t know in 2014 the event, which had built a worldwide reputation, took an unexpected twist when the venue it had used for 6 years closed its doors only days before the event was due to take place. Left with the option of cancelling the event or re-arranging, organiser Nick Westgarth chose the latter and pulled off the impossible, moving the festival, lock stock and barrel to The Venue, right in the centre of Carlisle.

Despite the upheaval the 2014 festival was a big success; but there was a price to pay! Nick used every ounce of energy he had, all the gas in the tank had been exhausted; he had nothing left to give to the following year. As far as the festival was concerned 2015 didn’t happen and the following year came along a little too quickly, so 2016 didn’t either. The momentum was lost or so it seemed.

Come 2017 and plans are well advanced for a new Carlisle Blues/Rock Festival. The same organising team of one is exactly the same as the previous years so arguments and disputes will be kept to a bare minimum. No time to waste!

This new, figuratively speaking, event will take place on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th September 2017. DATES FOR THE DIARY!

The format will be slightly different but all in all it won’t be too dissimilar to previous years, the popular elements will still be there for all to enjoy. More news and a full announcement is not too far away.
